Prof.Gopal-Pathak

India

Prof. Gopal Pathak graduated in Civil Engineering from BIT Mesra in 1977. He completed his master’s in civil engineering and Ph.D. from the same institute. In 1980, he joined the Department of Civil Engineering at BIT Mesra as a faculty member and rose to the position of Professor in the year 2000. Apart from his experience in the academic field, he has also held many administrative positions, including HOD of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Dean of Student Welfare, Dean of Faculty Development, Dean of Administration and Campus Development, and others. He has also served as Acting Vice Chancellor of the institute. Prof. Pathak has published and presented many technical papers in various national and international journals and conference proceedings in places such as China, Switzerland, Sweden, Finland, Australia, Iran, South Africa, the USA, and others during his professional career. He has also been a visiting professor and scholar at many prestigious foreign universities. To name a few: University of Technology, Sydney, Australia (1997); University of Ningbo, China (2006); Princeton University, USA (2009); International Institute of Water and Environmental Engineering, Burkina Faso, Western Africa (2009); and Stanford University, California (2011). He served as Vice Chancellor of Jharkhand University of Technology, Ranchi, from June 15, 2017, to December 14, 2020, and as Vice Chancellor of Sarala Birla University from December 15, 2020, to July 31, 2024. He has been heading Sarala Birla University as Director General since August 1, 2024.

Dr. Chowdhury Sarwar Jahan

Bangladesh

Chowdhury Sarwar Jahan Ph.D., Professor, Dept. of Geology and Mining, University of Rajshahi, Bangladesh, is a former Pro-Vice Chancellor (2013-2017) with 41 years of teaching, research, and administrative activities in the University. Prof Chowdhury has affiliated with various national and international professional organizations, and active member and experts of the various National Committees of the Govt. of Bangladesh on water resource management and climate change, and contributed as chair/member of the National Committees of GoB for framing laws, rules, policies, strategies etc. related to water management and national adaptation plan. Have published nearly 80 (seventy) national and international research papers, and book chapters. Rotarian Professor Chowdhury is an active social worker, including with the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society.

Prof. Shri Kant Tripathi

India

Professor S.K. Tripathi from the Department of Forestry, Mizoram University, is a renowned ecologist with 30 years of teaching, research, and administrative experience. He mentored 50 master's, two M. Phils, and 17 Ph.D. students. He has edited four books, written over 200 research papers in reputable publications with over 4000 citations, and completed dozens of research projects. For scholarly purposes, he visited the USA (1995, 2005), UK (1994, 2016), Nepal (1997), Japan (2002, 2003, 2004), China (2008), Germany (2009), Italy (2017), and France (2019). He received the prestigious Forestry Research Excellence Award in 2020 from ICFRE, Dehradun.

Dr. Amit Ranjan

India

Amit Ranjan is a Research Fellow at the Institute of South Asian Studies, National University of Singapore. Amit has authored Federalism and Inter-State River Water Disputes in India (Routledge, London and New Delhi, 2023) and Contested Waters: India’s Transboundary River Water Disputes in South Asia (Routledge, Oxon and New Delhi, 2021). Ms. Ritika Verma

India

I am a Research Associate in the Climate Change, Urbanization, and Sustainability (CCUS) team at ICRIER, New Delhi, India. I have been working on issues of climate change, energy transition, and sustainable development. I am currently involved in projects related to climate change, sustainable environment, circular economy, geospatial sciences, and policy relevance in India. I was part of the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) and oversaw the work of the Wetland Authority of Delhi. She contributed to the book “States of Wetlands in Delhi, 2021” in coordination with the Member Secretary of the Wetland Authority of Delhi. I completed my master’s in Environment Management from Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Delhi, and B.Sc. in Life Sciences from Maitreyi College, Delhi University. I did her dissertation at the Forest Research Institute, Dehradun, on “Forest Fire Susceptibility Mapping of Uttarakhand Using a Machine Learning Approach.” I also worked on the “Solid Waste Management of Upper and Lower Dharamshala” during my internship with EduCare India, Dharamshala. Her areas of interest include climate change and sustainability, disaster management, remote sensing, and GIS.

Ms.Shelja Alawadhi

India

Ms. Shelja Alawadhi is a PhD scholar specializing in climate resilience and urban wetland systems, with a strong interdisciplinary background in climate policy, adaptation planning, and climate risk governance. She currently serves as Sector Expert (Climate Change/Finance) at the Bureau of Energy Efficiency, Ministry of Power, India. Her professional affiliations span premier institutions, including NITI Aayog, IREDA, and the Environment Department, Delhi.

Dr. Parvathi Vallivattathillam

UK

Dr. Parvathi Vallivattathillam is a physical oceanographer with expertise in ocean modelling. She earned her Ph.D. in Marine Science from the National Institute of Oceanography, Goa, India, where her research focused on the physical drivers of hypoxia along west coast of India from interannual to long-term time-scales. She then moved to NYU Abu Dhabi to pursue her postdoctoral research, further investigating the bio-physical interactions with a focus on oxygen changes in the Arabian Sea. During this period, she also gained experience in setting up a regional model for the Arabian Gulf to understand the basin-scale circulation. Currently, she is a Research Scientist at the National Oceanography Centre, Liverpool, UK. Her work focuses on understanding climate change impacts on the large-scale and regional circulation, particularly the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC) and the dynamics of the UK shelf seas.

Dr. Keshav Kumar Upadhyay

India

Dr. Keshav Kumar Upadhyay is an Assistant Professor (Stage III) of Forestry at Mizoram University in India. He has a Ph.D. in forestry from Mizoram University and an M.Sc. in wood science and technology from FRI, Dehradun. With over 16 years of research and teaching experience, he specialises in dendrochronology, dendroclimatology, wood science, and climate change. He has published over 35 research papers, written a book, and supervised numerous postgraduate and doctoral students. He has international academic collaborations and served as Visiting Senior Lecturer to Manchester Metropolitan University, UK.

Sirine dia

UAE

Sirine Dia brings over 12 years of academic and professional experience, holding a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, a specialization in Environmental Engineering & Water Resources, and an MBA in International Business. She has led projects in wastewater treatment, recycling, and clean energy solutions in the UAE, and today works with organizations across the Middle East to drive strategic enterprise growth, enabling digital transformation and market expansion across MENA. She will also be delivering a talk on carbon capture and sequestration (CCS), walking through the full journey from capturing CO₂, to transporting it safely, and securely storing it underground — while addressing the region’s unique challenges such as arid climates and leveraging depleted oil and gas fields for long-term storage.

Dr. Bimbisar Dayanand Waghmare

India

Dr. Bimbisar Dayanand Waghmare is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Zoology at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Arts, Commerce & Science College, Nanded, Maharashtra, India. He holds a Ph.D. in Zoology and has extensive teaching and research experience in biodiversity, freshwater fisheries, aquaculture, and environmental sustainability. His research interests include climate change impacts on ecosystems, wetland restoration, and innovative waste management solutions. He has published research papers in reputed journals, presented at national and international conferences, and actively contributes to academic development through curriculum design and student mentorship. Dr. Waghmare is also engaged in applied research and innovation, with a recent provisional patent on a 'Blatt composting System' for organic waste management.

Mrs. Sweatha Sinha

India

Mrs Sweta Sinha is an academician, administrator, and researcher dedicated to education, governance, and sustainable development. She is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Law and Deputy Registrar (General Administration) at Sarala Birla University, Ranchi. With over 15 years of teaching and administrative experience, she has actively contributed to student development, institutional governance, and training initiatives. Presently pursuing her PhD on climate change policies and sustainability, her research interests include environmental ethics, governance, and Indian traditions.

Simran Monga

India

Simran Monga is an award-winning designer, researcher, and founder of the Hieco Center for Design and Learning, a UAE-based platform for sustainability-led education, design, and storytelling. She also leads REELIN, India’s first initiative for regenerative entertainment, housed within Hieco. With an MFA in Design for Sustainability from Savannah College of Art & Design, Simran has collaborated with leading organizations including Academy Award-winning Sikhya Entertainment, Women in Film, WRI India, and the Gates Foundation. Her pioneering thesis, Lights, Camera, Climate Action, introduced a first-of-its-kind climate storytelling toolkit for Bollywood filmmakers, offering tangible pathways to embed sustainability in mainstream cinema. Over nearly a decade, she has offered her expertise at the intersection of design, culture, and climate, partnering with renowned filmmakers, actors, entrepreneurs, organisations and advocates to spark systemic change. Through REELIN, she is shaping new narratives of hope and climate action that resonate across India, the UAE, and global diasporas.

Ms. Amrita Kumari

India

I am Amrita Kumari, a passionate botanist pursuing my PhD at Banaras Hindu University. My academic journey has been rewarding, earning university rank-1 in M.Sc. Botany from A.N. College, Magadh University, and completing my B.Sc. from Miranda House, University of Delhi. I have also done a diploma in Statistics, reflecting my love for interdisciplinary learning. As a researcher, I have authored publications including "Restoration of Urban Degraded Soil in Dry Tropics: Role of Multipurpose Shrub Plants" and the chapter "Climate Smart Agriculture: A Roadmap to Sustainable Agriculture" as a first author, plus five co-authored papers and one chapter. Beyond research, I find joy in activities like reading, painting, and cooking, that nurture my creativity and enrich my life.

Nidhi Singh

India

I am Nidhi Singh, a passionate researcher in the field of environmental science, currently working as a PhD scholar at Banaras Hindu University, India. I am focusing on climate-resilient agriculture, soil quality, crop productivity and ecosystem restoration and meanwhile frequently presenter at national and international conferences, committed to finding sustainable solutions for restoring and improving agroecosystems through nature-based practices like biochar and reduced fertilizer use. I believe that science should be rooted in real-world impact not just in theory, but in how we care for our land, our farmers, and our future.

Mr. Rahul Kumar

India

I am a Ph.D. student in the Department of Botany at Banaras Hindu University, India. Currently working as a Senior Research Scholar, focusing on the dynamics of soil carbon and its response to various urban land use types. His research aims to understand how urbanization influences soil carbon storage, turnover, and sustainability, contributing to better land management and climate mitigation strategies. With a strong academic background in environmental and soil sciences, Rahul is committed to advancing ecological research and promoting sustainable urban development through scientific insights into soil carbon dynamics.
